These terms cover your use of crosswordpuzzlelab.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
What you can do
- Play every puzzle online as often as you like.
- Print, photocopy and hand out our puzzles, large-print copies and answer keys for personal, family, classroom, tutoring, homeschool, library and senior-care activity use, including in paid tutoring sessions and at events where nobody pays for the puzzle itself.
- Show a puzzle on a classroom or activity-room screen.
- Link to any page. You don't need to ask.
What you can't do
- Sell our puzzles, clues or images, or put them in a product you sell (a puzzle book, an app, a printable bundle), without written permission.
- Re-host the files on another website or upload them to a marketplace. Link to the page instead.
- Copy the clues, word lists or code in bulk, or scrape the site automatically.
- Use the crossword maker to make or share abusive, hateful or unlawful puzzles. A maker puzzle contains whatever its author typed; we don't see or check it.
For anything else, such as printing a puzzle in a newsletter or a church bulletin, email us and we'll usually say yes.
Licence for images and printables
The puzzles, clues, PDFs, answer keys and grid images are © Crossword Puzzle Lab and licensed for the free uses listed above. That is the licence referred to in the image information search engines show.
Sources
Our grids are filled from word lists built from open data sources, credited on how we make our puzzles. Our derived fill word list is shared under the same Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence as the word-frequency data it is based on.
No warranty
The site is provided as is. We work to keep every clue accurate and the site running, but we don't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. Teachers should solve a puzzle themselves before giving it to a class.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Crossword Puzzle Lab is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
