Nothing exotic here. The grid is filled with animals almost everyone can name: a couple of household pets, several creatures you would meet on a farm, a few from the pond, and two big wild hunters from picture books.

Because the words are short and common, this is one of the best puzzles on the site for learning how a crossword works. A new solver can see straight away how a letter in one word helps with the word that crosses it.

The Easy clues are simple descriptions a six-year-old can follow with help. Medium adds a fact or a sound the animal makes. Hard is a little sly, written so an experienced adult still has to think for a second.
